Home Wind Turbine Generator: Four Steps to Installation and Power Generation

Assessment and Planning (Core)

Wind Speed Measurement: Measure wind speed at the planned altitude for 3-6 months to confirm an annual average wind speed ≥ 5 m/s.

Approval: Apply for permits from planning and power grid departments.

Equipment Selection: Select wind turbines, towers (the higher the better), inverters, etc., based on wind power and electricity consumption.

Installation and Construction

Foundation Construction: Pour a sturdy concrete foundation.

Tower Erection: Install the tower using a crane, ensuring it is vertical and stable.

Turbine Installation: Hoist the generator set (head, blades) to the top of the tower for installation and wiring.

Electrical Testing

Wiring: Lay waterproof cables and connect the controller, inverter, battery (off-grid) or grid-connected cabinet.

Trial Operation: Start the generator at a safe wind speed to test the power generation, charging, and power transmission functions.

Operation and Maintenance

Grid Connection: Connect the generated electricity to the grid for self-consumption, with surplus electricity sold to the grid (an agreement is required).

Off-grid Operation: Charge the battery for independent home use. Maintenance: Regularly inspect fasteners, lubrication, wear parts (such as carbon brushes), and electrical safety; clean the blades.

Key Reminder: Success depends 70% on the initial assessment (wind resources and regulations). Tower height and site selection directly determine power generation efficiency.
